Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Great puzzle, no orphans, no chains

Used orphans to start and picked a guess between the 2 possibilities of these orphans.Pick the right one and go all the way.pick the wrong one and have to take another guess somewhere down the line.

good puzzle, used orphans before I realized they probably weren't necessary

Not so tough for a hard puzzle.

Nice puzzle; doesn't require orphans. Key insight is that not both B & G can be greater than 7. All falls out from there.

Great solution, Karl. Showed it to be a real nice puzzle

Again, I seem to be behind you guys. Only got it by picking an orphan combo.

No orphans. Very good puzzle.

Struggled until I noticed either K or R must be 1 if K=1 then J=/ 2 and 37D must be 3,4,6,7,8,9.
Chained with R=1 ... solved easy.

Greg, did you get your letters correct?
free kakuro puzzles | online kakuro puzzles
Took me a long time to realize how easy this is: It's quite easy to show that {S,X} must be {5,7}, which requires a 2 in 37D, necessarily in L, placing a 2 in C and a 1 in T and you're basically done.

Used orphans & again didn't like the length of most chains, then saw Karl's hint about B & G. May have worked pre-orphans but extremely useful, 2018.
