Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

very tough. Quad orphans were no help for me. Just a whole lot of work.

There is no missing $1. The kids never had $10 to begin. That's an amount Mom was prepared to fork over. She gave them $27. That's all that was spent.

Can't see a logical reason to add the $2 to the $27. At the end of the transaction, the store has $25, the children each have $1, and the mother has $2 = 30. Put another way, each child paid $8.33 2/3 to the store and gave 66 2/3 cents to the mother. 8.33 X 3 = 25, 66 2/3 X3 = 2; total $27. 30-27 = 3, which is exactly what the children have.

The children don't have anything. They never did. Their mother gave them each $9 to make the purchase and they spent it. Mom managed to save $5 through negotiation and she still has it.

Sorry. She gave them each $8.33, not $9. She kept the $5.

+p+o and a chainy for me. Can't say I enjoyed it. A lot of work.

Paul, in the logic puzzle, it doesn't say where the $10 per child came from. You're assuming it was the mother's, but it could have been given to them by someone else.

+p Did not solve the quad orphans, but adding them up to get the difference of 2 tells you that T cannot be 9, so A=9, and that allows a logical solution.

Linda, that is a possibility. It just doesn't make any sense that she would actually take money from her children that they got somewhere else.

+p solution
after all p and solving 15D ....
N!=5 because O would =6 and 39A breaks.
P!=45 because 32D breaks.
Hence 12D is 1245 solution, delete the 3's and eliminations ...
L=1, unique rule
27D=3789 and everything falls out.
