Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
nada (was not obvious to me at first)

anyone remember proofs in Geometry better than I do?!?! My nada approach made use of what I am tentatively calling 'dual pairs Kakuro possibilities ___' in 39D/38D (where blank is the appropriate Geometry term - can't recall if it's theory, postulate, axiom, or other)

Don +2, good puzzle. The key is on the bottom 38/39, with the 5s

The places of 4,5,6 in 38D & 39D is crucial.

nada - that was a tough one.
I figured 38D and 39D have to have 3, 4, 5 and 5 between them, but a total of three horizontals to contain them (27A, 29A and 20A). One of those therefore, has to have a 35 or a 45. Neither 27A nor 29A can do that, so 20A=2459.
Easy enough after that ....

nada but good puzzle, took some thought but not crazy.

Bottom was key

Generally, any 'dual pair columns with 3 horizontals to contain them' (35 in 38D and 45 in 39D), it is required to have 1 or 2 rows with both 'dual pairs'. Chris +1.

Used everything and still struggled. I missed something.

Actually a very simple nada. 39D & 38D contain a 3, a 4, and 2 5s. Three of the rows must have 6+, 27A at the top can contain only 1, and 29A near the bottom can contain only 1. This forces 20A to be 4529. Then the 3 cannot be in 29A so it is at the top, the rest follows easily.

As per Chris, and Dan, well spotted. I had looked at the 3/4 combos but didn't think to expand to include 5s, thank you, 2019
