Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Nada: Not hard to fill in 15, 12 and 10 across. Now Y can't be 7 or 9 (else two 8's in 30 across), so either 7 in V or 9 in W. But 7 in V puts 2 in Z, 7 in T, no place for 7 in 30 across. Thus 9 in W. This fills in 27 down and 29 down, and leaves only one possibility for 11 down. Then can do 30 across and finish.

Nada but picked the location of the 5 in 29D and it worked. Couldn't seem to get any traction in logic so guessed.

Coming back to this, I no longer remember (and no longer understand) why I said it was not hard to fill in 15 across. Now it seems that all that's obvious is D,E and 10 across.

Ah, I retract my retraction! The lower 6 squares of 29 down are at least 1+5+6+7+8=27, so B=2, which does in fact easily complete the 15 across.

Nada. Figuring out the one possible solution to 32A (once you deduce that Z cannot be 2) was the key for me.
