Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Possibilities and a chain.

I started entering possibilities but finished without putting all in. Should be a nada due to restrictions in middle columns.

nada.
five easy cells at the top, and 7x and 9x in the two long downs.
the four cells at the bottom of the long downs add to either 19 or 20 and can only be made from 34568.
If there’s an 8 amongst them, then they are forced to add to 19 which can’t be done (3458 > 19).
To get to 19 or 20, we have to use two 5’s (eg 4556).
Now we have a 6x and a 5x

nada, slightly different than Aspie.
After the 5 easy up top, I did some chains to isolate R, then it all came together. It did take me 15 minutes to isolate R.

after reading Aspie's comments, I agree it could have been nada. My approach compared to Aspie's:
1 (same): five easy cells at the top, and 7x and 9x in the two long downs.
2 (not specified by Aspie): Either C<5 or D<5 to solve top row.
3 (same). the four cells at the bottom of More...
