Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Took a while to get started. Better challenge than the recent easy ones.

I was really stuck and had to use extended logic to get started. I wonder if anyone has a good method for getting started, not guessing?

My logic would be 'extended', but I did not guess either. B or V must be 3. If v = 3 I could see that U = 4 and x=5, y=6 (and B = 6) which leaves no place for the 6 to go in the '34' row. Thus B = 3; fairly straight foward from there.

Thanks Steve. I had gotten that far, but for some reason I didn't test out the 3's. You are correct, it was easy after proving the 3 location. But I still kind of consider it a guess, or trial and error may be a better term.

I did it by testing the 4's in the 34 row. Either T or U must be 4.
