Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
got lazy and used orphans, easy then

I must have missed something, I really had to think even with orphans
free kakuro puzzles | online kakuro puzzles
even with orphans it wasn't so easy.

Yoman, I used uniqueness heuristic: X=5 else triplet unique failure of 789s in 37D and 30D
which then fixes 37D to be a 256789 (X=5)

and a few more steps shows D=2

then there's another uniqueness in the bottom right corner, so Q!=9

G!=89 else 23A > 23

at which point I got lazy and used orphans

Finally did it w/out orphans. Took a chain to isolate cell K, then it all fell into place.

4:56 - no orphans, but a chain.

I resisted the temptation to use orphans but took over 23 minutes. not sure if I used more than 2 chains. square G had 2 possibilities & I chose the 1 I thot would eliminate the most... proceeded with the other possibility. saw the illegal quad in the lower right

X=5 because 6 is to its left and the 3 squares above it must be 7/8/9

Single solution theory leads the way. No orphans. Took a long time though.
