Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.
Other variations
Still looking for more puzzles? How about a variation on sudoku? Try Wordoku. Wordoku uses letters instead of numbers and has a hidden 9-letter word! For crossword puzzles, try Free Crossword PUzzles. 2 free crosswords (Easy, Hard) daily.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

without orphans .... can be done with a logic chain just about short enough to keep in head ....

With 3 cells found: posit X=7 which accounts for 123 in 21D. 10A solution now forces a non-unique 45 quad in 10A and 15A. Therefore X!=7 and everything falls into place

No orphans, no guessing... HINT: look at the 4s in 15A and 13A

My previous comment assumes that you have got D,H,L&V almost immediately. It also assumes that, with just a little thought, you will have I. Once you get my hint, you will solve F and N, and the rest will just fall into place.

Agree with kakuroaddict. Not all that hard.

Looking at it again, I realised I had made a happy mistake in completely omitting certain possibilities in W and X, which put my logic for L into question. However, looking more carefully at 21D and 10A, I came to the same result for L and so my hint about the 4s in 15A and 13A still applies.

...ergo, still no orphans and no guessing.

I wasted time checking out the 4/5 possibility in L & realized that 2/3 could also go in the other 2 squares of 10A!

Chris, I don't see how 'everything else falls into place' - the 3 cells I got were D,H,V. also, X<>7 is easier to read than X!=7 (math degree here)
