Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.
Other variations

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

I would like to add that after filling cells ADEFGHLOSTVXYZ we are left wirh a bunch of 1 2 3 4 with nothing obvious to continue with.Unless you can remember all the moves till the last one,you have to take a guess on any cell that will let you go on.the right guess brings you to the end.the wrong,,also brings you to the end only to find out that you have 2 identical numbers in the same row.

I could not solve it logically without orphans and I thought I proved it could not be done. Obviously, I'm wrong. Have to try again.

Nice puzzle.

John, the 3's are key to solving the final section of the puzzle.

Not that hard without orphans, but for a misstep that cost some time.

I think John from Canada describes what I ran into, except that at the end the 1 in 26D has to be in Q not U. If it was in U then you wouldn't have a unique solution (i.e. 26D and 31D would have identical possibilities in adjacent cells).
