Kakuro Puzzles

It took me way too long to find 1 of the eliminations. I still had to result to a guess to finish it. If someone finished without guessing, I'll check back later for a hint.

No guessing. Most of time spent filling in possibilities.

The keys were all based around the 7's in the middle two columns and avoiding multiple solutions. This solved D and S (labelling the squares A to Z) and the rest was straightforward

5:13 I never guess. Not sure if my logic was similar to Slarti's, I found a series of X-outs in the two long 36/39 columns that led to solving S, but I got N before D.

For me, the key was recognizing that the second box on the bottom row was the only place a 4 would fit for the vertical 39.

cab from california - no need to be rude or mean. UrBuddie was looking for hints, you sound like you think you are better than others who are learning their way around the puzzles. Too bad, I thought this was a polite group.... Guess I was wrong.

I don't think cab from california meant to be rude. I think he simply meant that if UrBuddie had that much trouble with it, he (cab) might as well not even try to solve it.

I got it now. I was missing an elimination that solved 'G'. After that, it was easy. Thanks for the hints!

When I did this in 2008, I found it difficult, as did others. (See above comments.) I came back an redid it on Dec. 29, 2009, and found it fairly easy to solve. I first discovered Kakuro in the London Times during a flight from Heathrow to LA in August, 2008. I have been doing them almost daily since. Having another year of experience made a huge difference on this one.
