Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Nada. Karen, it means you solved the puzzle without using possibilities or orphans. Let us know if you don't know what orphans are or don't know how to use them. Always glad to have new players.

Orphans - Most cells are part of a Vertical AND a Horizontal Group. but some cells are only part of a Horizontal OR a Vertical Group, not both - in this case, J and Q. Add all the vertical Totals(129), then add all the Horizontal Totals(126). The difference between these two Sums (3) will be the sum of the Orphans.

Never knew what an orphan was! Thanks for asking Karen.

Easy with possibilities.

Maybe I could add something to Mike's definition of 'Nada'. It is not a 'Nada' if you make a mistake and backtrack, even if you did not use possibilities or orphans.

Straightforward, especially once I realised 29A cannot have a 6, doh.
