Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Note U and Z !=89 (falls out of fact that 15D, 17D and S+X all have either an 8 or a 9).

Either U or Z must be 7 thus 15D must be 78 or 87.

8's cross makes D=8, solves.

me+1 (doesn't need orphans btw)

Looks like I used the same strategy as me & Chris. Good puzzle.

I don't understand why 15D must be 78 or 87 (it can also be 96 or 69).

I'm with you, Shabbir (spent some time on it)

Fairly straightforward. Good puzzle. No orphans needed.

Did this puzzle a few days ago but I think I remember that the 15D needs to have a 7 because both 34A and 35A need a 7. And since O=7, and U or Z must be 7, 15D must have the other 7. If memory serves.

No orphans but lots of thinking for me. Not that easy.

I had to run the 69 combo through to disprove in 15D, couldn't 'see' it. Even then still hard work with orphans, 2019

No orphans. Unique rule dictates location of 5 in 35A, straightforward from this point.
