Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

used trial and error to prove S=7, then all falls into place. Couldn't find a logic solution

I did a couple of error chains to prove neither H or Z can be 5... fell into place after that.

Found two short chains (not sure if that's better than one long chain), but is was fairly easy to show D could not be 3 or 4, then a short logic chain (maybe just an observation) that V could not be 7.

There needs to be a 7 in S, V, or W. If 7 goes in V or W, since there is a 7 in P or Q, then there cannot be a 7 in L or M. If there is no 7 in L or M, then L and M must be 6 and 9. If there is a 9 in L and M, since there is a 9 in L or M, there can be no 9 in Y or Z. But we need a 9 in Y or Z. Therefore, the 7 must go in S.
