Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.
Other variations

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Not sure if this counts as a chain or not but I did this puzzle without using orphans by 'seeing' that if G=6 then both 23A and 33A require 9's. But G=6 makes B=9 which doesn't leave enough 9's in 23A and 33A. G=!6 ==> X=6.

Refering to the 33A at the bottom of the puzzle.

Redid it with orphans but no possibilities. It was actually easier, I thought.

me: AFAIK, we have no formal definition of a chain. My own understanding is that a chain comprises filling in a value, filling in its implications, and if it leads to a contradiction, backing out the changes. That is to day: doing the logic that of course we all do, but on the screen rather than More...

Dave, my idea of chain is as you describe but in the head rather than filling in a number and then backing out if wrong.
