Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.
Other variations

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
To Steve from L.A., there have been 2 or 3 times when you have refered to the 'unique solution' logic as being controversial. What do you mean? I thought by definition that kakuro puzzles had a unique solution.

This one seemed very easy today.

Not too tough today, and yes, all proper Kakuro puzzles have a unique solution.

And I think it looks a bit like a daffodil?

The flower is a daffodil and, more specifically, a jonquil, I think.

Karukos without orphans seem easier to solve than those with orphans, which is logical.

I vote for the daffodil.

It's a Rose of Sharon - a shrub, not a spring bulb.

11:39 Lovely picture. I vote for the Rose of Sharon - the leaves on this plant are not long and narrow as daffodil or jonquil leaves must be.

As for the 'unique solution' debate, I had a kakuro book which had many puzzles with non-unique solutions, as Steve explained in his discussion More...

7:27 Never look at it before starting the clock, and never guess before 15 minutes. They're my rules. :-P That means any clock time is for a 'true' solution.
