Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Can nada count if I use +u (unique)

yes, nada means your brain works on the data and then you fill in the cell(s)

Even with orphans, I can only get 3 cells.
Don't understand what unique means Don.

Possibilities, orphans and a mental chain.

By the way, I do not agree with the Martian - if you use orphans, it is still your brain working on the data, but it is not 'Nada'.

The way I see it, 'Nada' means that you did not use possibilities and you did not calculate orphans.

Agree with Boka on both comments. What does actually
NADA mean?
N ?
A ?
D ?
A ?
Some one came up with no possibilities and no orphans and decided it was going to be NADA instead of NPNO

Interesting - with the uniqueness on bottom two rows the rest opens up a piece at a time.
Paul - after getting the first 3 you can see that if Z is 6, then the first 3 of 35A and 34A are both 789. You would be able to have more than one solution - therefore Z must be 7.

needed orphans but no possibilities

Don plus one, possibility of 6, 7 in Z, is the key.

Re the use of uniqueness: You can interpret the implied challenge of these puzzles to be either 'find a solution' or 'find a solution and prove it's unique'. On the first interpretation, you ought to allow successful guessing. On the second interpretation, you can't use the unique rule. So it More...

Willo, it depends on how the game rules are interpreted. I think, from several sources, that a puzzle is only allowed to have one solution, a there's a term to describe it 'proper puzzle'. eg unique rule is a feature of Kakuro, and not just a feature of this site (like when people say 18 is More...

The 'unique rule' doesn't apply here. You could have 789 as choices in the left three squares for both 34A and 35A and still only have one available solution.

Say that Q=7, thus V=9. RS would then be either 89 or 98, while WX would be either 78 or 87. This gives two unique vertical pairings More...

Never mind. I see now that the unique rule does in fact apply. Ignore my previous post, except for my alternate solution. That still checks out!

Easy nada. I believe the unique rule is not a rule; it's just a method of elimination, like every other mental calculation you do. It's a given that there can only be one solution to each puzzle, just like it's a given that you must use 1 though 9, and not 0 or 10, in each square. But it has no application to this puzzle.

Nada, taking the advice that the unique rule forces Z=7, which I don't buy for the reason Kody stated. I have long felt that matching triplets or quads don't violate the unique rule. When you put Z=7 the puzzle gets pretty easy with the crosses. I did have to resort to adding and subtracting totals for groups of cells to finish the top.
