Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Can't find a logical solution.Orphans only help find where the 1 goes in 21 down

very tough. found a chain that worked and used it. never proved the negative, though.

As others, used orphans to get 1 in 21 down; able to get cells for 9 down --- but then used one chain to get rest.

I'm still unsure what is meant by chain. Is it simply 10 in 4 squares has to be 1,2,3,4? Or that 28 in four has to be 7,8,9,4 or 6,8,9,5? Then play try to out.

A chain is a sequence of numbers that become apparant after the first number is placed. It may be only one more number, or it may be several more numbers.

chain means (for me), you're stuck having filled out all the possibilities. So you look for a pair, say 3,4 of possibilities in a particular square, and try one out, if it doesn't work (leads to a contradiction elsewhere), then you know it's the other one.

chains are morally bad, evil More...

and a puzzle that can only be chain-solved is a morally bad puzzle and should also be put up against a wall and shot

often though, some bright spark posts the logic solution and everybody wonders why they didn't think of that

even worse though is when everybody is stuck and then someone claims there's a logic solution but doesn't give the hint how

could not find a logic solution either and did not finish

Finally got it all by luck.Absolutely no logic.I tried at least 3 chains.

Tried again and if you choose for 21 down 2 1 3 4 5 6 you can go quite far then another chain for the bottom part.So 2 chains and orphans
