Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Used Orphans to complete the top half

shabbir+1 (or a chain)

correction: without orphans, or chain, B!=4 is easy to see, and easy then on ...

Chris, are you sure you meant B? For me, without orphans, then chain to prove F<>4.

I don't get either Chris' or Don's remark. Don't see why its obvious that B!=4. Also its obvious that F!=4 ????

Easy with orphans.

A quick mental chain shows that B!=4 (if B=4,H=4, C=3, A=2, D=1, I=9, J=8, G=7, F=6 and 19D is broken). But that didn't solve it for me.

Orphans though make it super easy.

And Dan probably meant G!=4 (which for me isn't easy to see).

Felt great solving the bottom half in just a few seconds though!

Thanks me. I see the B!=4 now.

Shabbir +4. Not being familiar with the nomenclature I assume B!=4 means that B cannot be 4. Right?

Yes != means 'not equal to' as does <>. I first saw the != nomenclature used when I learned programming in C. 'Hello world!'

Bottom half very easy, top required some thought. No nothings, though.

no orphans
