Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution beyond the 3 in 6 down please?

Difficult even with p and o. Gave up.

Restarted with intuition, tried some chains and solved it. Not very satisfying.

-p-o but took two tries. You can see 25A has to have three numbers of 5 or more, so that narrows it to two possibilities. Placing the 5's is difficult, so I assumed 27D would be 9861 instead of 9852. (It has to be one of those two to make 25A work.) After a bunch of thought, that did it.

Mike’s reminds me as usual if the “and then a miracle occurred” cartoon, I think in the New Yorker magazine.

I didn’t solve it, but made done progress.

Yes, it probably was a miracle.

Looking at all the comments above, I don't think that this one will be much fun. I quit.

Got it. Repeating first part if solution above:

A) count 789’s. The acrosses provide fifteen exactly. Tge downs have thirteen at least, two short. That implies one in the lower orphan and three in 27D.
B) 27D=3789
C) find the 8x and 22D=589
D) count 67’s. 13A!=67 because not enough 67s available.
13A=58 and it then solves

Looking back at D) - maybe that’s not right

I follow as far as Aspie's 8x, then stuck.

solved. Used everything but guesses. Had to put it down for the night and try with fresh coffee and fresh eyes.
