Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Now that I see it---with orphans only:

1) Bottom three squares of 39D are {4,5,6} so M at least 7 so N at most 6 (by orphans) so G at least 7 so J at most 8 so M=9, and fill in orphans. (Note also that now 21A={1,2,3,7,8}.)

2) 8D and 3D have 1's so 5D={2,3}.

3) Rule out 5 More...

Hi Willo, Good solution. I'm struggling to try and get this one done without orphans.

Noticed that the bottom two of 23D add to 6 (by block addition subtraction because we know 456 in bottom half of 39D. Therefore Q!=6, Q!3 and V!=3; and much of the bottom half solves (there's a 3X to More...

Easy with P, the key is the 6, on 16

got it, nada by logic. Prove 23D!=xxxx42 ...
Forces 1x between 8D and 3D, which forces 2x between 4D and 3D, and takes away all 4's from the top two rows.
18A=12357
8D=152
No 3x possible in top tow rows. 18A needs a 3, so now no 3 or 4 possible in 21A=12567, but 7 already used 18A.

Therefore 23D=xxxx15 which is enough to solve the rest nada
