Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
probably missing something glaringly obvious, but stuck

Either LuCa is a lot smarter than the rest of us or he is mistaken. Needs a chain, aka guess. Not a good puzzle.

John, At 39, the 4, 5 and 8* fit logically
After just one possibility for the 9 at the 39, at the 16 colum.
*Why the 8+4 and not the 7+5 at the 18. Because at the 22 row you need a 5 or a 7 crossing the 35 and 16 coluns

Done without orphans but one chain. Unlike Luca, I could not place the 8 in 39A. When I chose that the rest just fell into place.

No orphans or chains required. Good puzzle.

Used orphans, but fairly straight forward, and under 10 mins which is good for me.

LuCa's solution doesn't work for me, because the initial premise seems wrong. In the 39, the 9 can go in either the 16 column or the 35 column; I cannot prove it belongs in the 16 column.
