Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

In 37 down the only place where to put anything lower than a 4 is in H.So I chose a 2 and played it as 9-8-7-6-5-2,Then I had to choose where the 5 could go in 35 across.I took a chance in the wrong place then started again with the only other choice and went all the way.

One of the most beautiful puzzles I've seen. John had the right idea --- except no guessing is required --- H has to be less than 4, which makes it the third cell in that row for which that is true. That provides a few digits. There are a few other stumbling blocks along the way, but they can be More...

My 1st approach was to try H=2 and then eliminated the 5s in 37D - took forever.
Couldn't H=3, P=4 (this chain gets dicey) work also - maybe orphans eliminates that possibility?
The note on 21A was helpful - lately I seem to not be using all the eliminations I've made.

Absolutely no chains or orphans needed. HINT: Main key is to note that W cannot be set to 4 or there would be two 7s in 37D. Then you have obvious 5 and 6 constraints that make the rest of the solution a snap.
