Mike - with a time that low (I took 17:54), are you setting up the puzzle in any way, prior to setting the timer? It takes me a minute or 2 just to enter all the possibilities (which is a no-brainer), so I can't imagine being able to do the puzzle so fast. Not that I'm doubting you, but I'm wondering more -- HOW DO YOU DO IT? :)

Wow, it took forever for me to find the 1st number, then everything fell into place quickly.

Hey Kathy - I think some people are experienced enough to see the possibilities in their heads without actually entering all of them. Plus Mike@mikeland has said in the past that he often tries possiblities to see if they work. It takes longer to work through possiblities and find the 'logical' More...

I really don't care about my speed either, but if someone is capable of figuring these out in 3 minutes - and it took me almost 18 minutes, then I am sure I can learn something from them.

You are probably correct about others being able to 'see' the possibilities in their heads. I, however, am not, nor will ever be, one that smart. :)

Took approx 2:00 to put in first number.

The main tactic used to solve this one was the four corners of a square cannot all contain the same two possibilites, otherwise the solution will not be unique. Used it about 3 times on this one.

Hi Slartibartfast - Thanks for the tip on the four corners of a square, although I only needed to use it once... It helped me to narrow down the possibilities for 19A. This led to me getting my first number up the top somewhere and it all fell into place from there.

Good puzzle. No orphans required but a lot of elimination time. Like kakuroaddict I only used the unique solution rule once.

Don't tend to use unique rule, but even with orphans couldn't get this one, 2017
