Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Hoping to redeem myself for the incomplete argument I posted a couple of days ago (on a different puzzle), this is nada:

1) Only one way to do 3D.

2) Only one place for 1 in 24D; complete 3A. This determines D.

3) 24D needs 2 and 3, necessarily at top and More...

Thanks Willo - the point on the culprits was super helpful! I like calling them culprits, heh.

Straightforward with a very short 'chani' to eliminate 5 in 32A. I am not sure Willo's analysis is correct as it is counting 5/7 in the entire rows, but downs are counted in only the bottom two rows, even though it turns out to be right. i.e. why can't the fourth 5/7 be outwith those two columns?

Jimmy: The analysis still seems right to me. I'm counting across the bottom two rows and then down, but only in those two rows. The conclusion is that there are *at most* three 5's and 7's in those rows, not that there are exactly three.

Jimmy: Or to say that more clearly: The conclusion from the across count is that there are at *least* three culprits and the conclusion from the down count is that there are at *most* three culprits. I still think it's right, but if I'm mistaken I'll be glad to be corrected.

Hi Willo, so on just that basis, looking at only the 4 intersection cells, what eliminate them containing two of the across culprits, with the 3rd one outside of those cells? That satisfies at least three in the downs and 3 or 4 in entire across rows?
I could only exclude by focussing on 13D, More...

Jimmy: You ask 'looking at only the 4 intersection cells, what eliminate them containing two of the across culprits, with the 3rd one outside of those cells?'

Answer: Nothing eliminates this, and nothing can, because that's exactly what happens! Counting down, there are at most three More...

Willo, you are correct. My mistake on reading your original comment not spotting that you had included 13D in the count for the downs, I thought it was only the two long downs. My apologies, it makes logical sense to me now. Thanks for your patience.
