Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

4:48 My understanding of the unique rule is that there can only be one solution which eliminates some possibilities where more than one solution could be possible. In this puzzle the 17 down has to be an 8 and 9 and to have a unique solution the 19 down must be 3 with a 7 and 9 as 2 with 8 and 9 would provide 2 possible solutions for 35 and 26 across. Hope this helps!

No orphans. I think the unique solution rule puts a 6 in the bottom row, otherwise you have more than one solution with the 789 combos. Having said that, it didn't fall into place for me. Had to try chains.

Used orphans. Thanks for the explanation of the unique solution rule. Not sure I understand it, but I will work with it.

It took me 3:25 from the saved point to do the 4 elimination in 10A & and 3:44 to finish using the right cell for the 4 (right after the previous)
