Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Took forever (and it might take another forever to remember it so I can write it up here) but this is nada:

1) First, second and fourth rows all have 6's. One of those 6's must be in 20D. So 20D={9,6,5}. If the 5 is in the 19A, then the 19A needs a 6, which there is no room for. So the More...

willo - I tried again for nada. my step 1 is the same as yours. My problem is step 2. How do you exclude the 7 from E in order to cross 7's in 30A/35A without orphans?

I now have a slightly different nada solution:

1. same as Willo step 1 resulting in 659 for 20D
2. JK in 19A must be 28 or 37 in that order, so SX must be 45 or 54
3. Since J is 23, R or W must be 4 or 5
4. Since X is 45, W can’t be 45, so R is 45 and W is 789
