Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
nada for first half (+o-p is one option)

Don, once you nada-ed the bottom half, you know the orphans, so this can't be a +o puzzle whatever which way.

sounds like Chris and I did something different, (not a first). 33D ends with a certain pair, so 33D could be either 987621 or 876543 (still unsure on 33D orphan).
From there I see two options: +o-p or -o+short chain.

missed that it's actually quad orphans (thinking too quick as per usual). so disregard my previous comment.

Easy with possibilities and orphans, although, like Chris, I initially missed two orphans.

The quick nada solution:

1) Get T and V, hence in short order all of 8 across, 37 across, 30 across, J and M.

2) Adding up what's left of the top two rows, and subtracting off what's missing from 5 down, 6 down and 37 down, get A+E+F=7. And E is at most 3, so A+F is at most More...

small correction --- I said E is at most 3, but meant of course that E is at least 3.

nada

Nada, after I used Willo's suggestion of manipulating the capacities of the groups of cells. Didn't do it exactly as he did but used it to calculate the 4th orphan and the rest fell into place.
