Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

35D was key for me too. First entry was error on placing 1 in 10A. Fixed that and no p or o or nada.

Nada. Don't know why everyone didn't see it. Fill in I & M. See that 35D has 3 digits of 5 or less, so only 2 possible solutions that fit. Ergo, T=5. HKO must be 987 or 986. You can sense that 26D is 974321 because there is no place for a 5, so H=6, which means B=2. Easy from there.

@Paul, there are two 10As - were you referring to top row? @Mike you said, 'You can sense … because there is no place for a 5.' Why not 12A=156?

BTW, I found PROOF of what 35D contains (regardless of 6 in 35A).

Nada, no guessing no possibilities, no orphans. 35 down was the key. If you add up the highest possible numbers in each cell, they add to 36, therefore the solution means one of those has to be one less, so you can get rid of a whole lot of possibilities because they not possibilities. Easy from there.

@Don - If you try a 5 in 12A, you will find it doesn't work. I'll admit I didn't do that. I said 'sense' because sometimes you study one of these puzzles and you just see the solution, without having to work it out step by step in your mind. When that happens, it's not a guess; it's just an understanding. I'm surer we have all experienced it.

Good comment:no possibilities then if you add all
Highest possibilities!,,,, how can you add all highest possibilities if you did not use them
Almost like Trump,I did not do that and at the end of the sentence, when I did that!...

Don I was referring to the 10A at the top, the first row.

Gloria, you do have your knickers in a knot. Lighten up.

Straightforward with orphans. I normally use possibilities and I prefer to only use logic rather than sense / guess / chain / other. All to their own.
