Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

try again, orphan m<=4, therefore orphan n=789.
35D must contain either 689 or 789.
23D must have a 58 pair (think about it).

and it all gradually falls into place

Orphans and a tiny chain, not that bad when you get it

I had reached the place Chris explained but still needed small chain to solve on second try

I used orphans and eliminated a few choices then I guessed on 35 down as 987542.after that it seemed to go pretty good but took a lot of time

my spoiler appears wrong, 23D seems also to be able to have a 67 pair

great puzzle. My key was removing 5's, starting with the bottom 15A

Agree with Joe - removing 5's is key. Good puzzle.

Chris' spoiler had right idea for 35D. Must either have 689 or 789. Orphans eliminate 6 possibility from N. I used a chain to eliminate possibility of 6 in V, so must be 789. From there, pure logic problem. I liked it.

Actually fairly easy with orphans, once you realize that the 5s in the 35-acrosses can only go in one cell each. 9/10/13
