Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
stuck looking for logic solution, orphans don't seem to help (after 8 cells found)

I solved it using a couple of error chains - one starting from T (cannot be 1) and another starting from Q (cannot be 7)... done.

Couldn't progress far without orphans. When the orphan restriction is used, consideration of allowable alternatives for 34D leads to reasonably accessible logic solution.

Pure logic eliminates T = 1 and E = 4, then reasonably easy to solve.

Newbie here. What's the meaning of 10:06 or 9:14?

Mike,

For E, note if H = 4, E is not 4. If H < 4 then N = 3 and G is 4 so E can not be 4.
For T, if N = 3, then H < 4 so T > 1. If N = 4, O = 6 and H+T is at least 6 so T > 1 in either case.

I proved kakuroaddict's strategy, and am really impressed with Steve's reply to Mike. Thanks Steve.

Needed a guess again. Couldn't follow Steve's second chain for T. 2018
