Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

For Angelo .... re puzzle 9-2-2011 .... the triple 124's are illegal because they give rise to multiple solutions (which are not allowed). Double 12's would do the same, and quad 1234's likewise.

Some people allow non-unique solutions, but these kakuro.cc puzzles all seem to be one solution only.

took me 25 minutes, but it is possible with only logic. I used orphans, but think it was a waste of time adding those numbers up in my head 4 times to get them right.

Too difficult to me? In principle, I don't use the 'uniqueness-argument' because to me solving kakuro includes the proof of the fact that the solution is unique. I'll get back to this one some day, though.

it's nice to be able to do the eliminations that the unique solution rule enables. but I can't quite wrap my brain around how 124 in 2 columns or rows means multiple solutions (it seems 1234 in 4 rows and columns is easier to understand)
