Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

I started with a 9 in cell O but it is a guess because it could very well be in cell E

-o-p. I made an assumption that 20D is 875, because that just seemed to be the only thing that works. That allows you to fill in the bottom three rows. Then, if you start looking for where to put the 5's for 21D and 36D, you realize it can't be done, so 36D does not have a 5. That allows you to solve it. Obviously not a nada but it worked.

John, as Don says all twelve bottom cells can be solved nada. as follows (or some variant) ...
last two rows already have 9X by 17D and 16D, but you need to build an 8X at least out of TUYZ. How to do? Well, you can't have 8 in UZ, so 8 must be in TY, which solves 17A and 20D=578. Solve rest of More...

John, 20D can't contain 389, so 8x in STXY (solves 17A followed by 34A/35A). Used orphans after that.
