Needed orphans. Why is it embarrassing to use orphans?

Challenging puzzle with orphans. Can't believe solution would be possible without them (or a fair amount of guessing).

Chris, I felt the same way, but I saw it was going to require more mental power than I had available this morning to solve it w/out orphans.

I don't find it embarrassing to use orphans,it's part of the puzzle.This one is also pretty hard even with orphans

A lot of work on eliminations, with orphans. Good challenge. Fun.

This can be done without orphans, quads, a small mental chain and some unique solution constraints.

C=7 and W=5. 33A and 29A must have 7's which form a 7-quad in squares TVXZ. A quick mental chain on both possible solutions to the 7-quad gives you U=8 and Y=9 for both. R=9, N=2, then unique solution requires M=1. 3-quad is fomred in KLOP. Proceed from there with possibilities, etc.

Um...no orphans required.

Orphans and logic, no need for possibilities made it a good puzzle.

Orphans for me but I'm not embarrassed!

I used orphans and a chain - maybe that's why I took 10:40!
