Thanks Serenity. In the spirit of full disclosure, I study the puzzle before starting the timer. It doesn't take long to find a strategy, but I never pencil numbers, or fill a box before starting the timer. For the hard ones, I always start the timer right away, and then start pencilling (?) down numbers.

Hmmm there must be a consistent rule to timing. Studying puzzle before starting a timer wouldn't be considered fair.

I think the player we are most trying to beat is our own self. However, I really appreciate the info, fyb, as your times are sooo much faster than mine.

0:58 I don't study the puzzle first which probably explains why my times are all over the place! Some days are luckier than others. Bob, I don't get the picture anymore either. Has Gath forgotten us here? I know there was quite a bit of controversy on the easy sudoku yesterday with the picture on that site...maybe he is hesitant to put the pics back here! How can we get pictures showing again? Who can we contact?

I emailed sudoku.com.au about our lack of pictures. Gath runs both the sudoku and kakuro sites and he should be the one to fix this.

1:15 I personally believe that any time I take looking at the puzzle has to count, otherwise my time would just be how long it takes to actually put the numbers in!
