Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Must've missed something. I had to use a chain --- on a Medium?

Karl, you did not miss anything. This one is based on trial and error especially that a trial brings you 5 or 6 steps further to find out that it was wrong

Rather difficult medium for me - I used a 'chain' of inferences. Is that a happy dog? Certainly cute.

All logical, but a tough medium

There is an alternate correct solution to the medium Kakuro for 9 August. Put a 1 in the lower left corner and work it through.

Didn't see a pure logic solution, but the trial and error was quick as I guessed correctly.

I took almost 4 minutes, paused it to read the comments, and forgot to restart the timer

I forgot to set a timer. Richard. I'd love to find a puzzle with more than one correct solution, but when I tried the solution you suggested I came up with two 3s in the bottom 14A (the one with 4 addends).

No go Richard...depending on if you go clockwise or counterclockwise from the 1 in the bottom left corner you end up with two 3's in the 14A as Plum says or two 3's in the 18A at the top.

Horrible puzzle. Did anyone try to use the quad orphans to solve it? I'm too lazy to try.

No orphans, more work than the usual medium, but you don't really need to fill in any of the possibilities.... just do it in your head.

1.35 on my second attempt, and I really messed up the first one!
