Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
got lazy at the end used orphans

Easy with orphans. [Don't see using orphans as being lazy --- perfectly good logical constraint, like row/column sums.]

tried again without orphans.I have to take a chance on 27 down to be 981234 then go all the way but it is still a guess cause it could be 871245 or 961245.So I prefer to use orphans as it is a logical way to do it without a guess.

Straightforward without orphans.

Karl: the idea of avoiding orphans is to make the puzzle a bit more challenging by intentionally not using some of the available information.

5:13 with orphans!

Easy with orphans. I agree with Dave that solving the puzzle with logic without using orphans is more fun if it can be done but it often can't be done without trial and error, which is not satisfying, to me anyway. I agree with Karl that using orphans is part of the logic available and better than punching up guesses.
