Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
+p and a little chain, prob could be a +p only

+p+o (no chain required)

Shabbir +1. I can't recall details, but I thought a similar puzzle was at least +o-p due to 33A).

seems that orphans or chain is necessary, but not both. Assuming a chain is really required, what is the shortest chain? I'll post my approach later.

+p -o, 5:40.

unless I missed something it was a simple nada

+p, difficult
Tried for 15 minutes w/nada before applying p

Upon further review, I had used orphans early on to help find O, then simple (so easy +o).

Easy with just orphans. I'm impressed with nada Steve.

Paul - don't be too impressed - actually just poor memory - I completed the puzzle, and could not remember using the orphan information, but when I redid it, I realized I had used orphans early on to find O.

seems to require orphans or chain (but not both). Did I miss anything simpler than the following, after solving at least 5 cells with nada:
1. Regardless of O: 33A can't contain 2 and solve 5 cells in 30D/39D.
a. if O<=2: 9x in HMNS, WV=87, 16A=79, 10A=82, O=1
b. if O=4: PJN=377, More...

+p+o but no chains. Could not find a -o +chain solution. Nada is out of the question for me.

revision to step 1a: if O<=2: 9x in HMNS, WV=87, 16A=79, 10A=82, 6x in 30D/39D, JP=73. Now that 27D is the same regardless of O, chain in step 2 is unnecessary (and I argue that step 1 is not a chain)

There are two possibilities, so does not need Orphans

Not that difficult nada.
Start with 21D/27D, then recognize limitations of 33A, then counting 5s and then 9s gets you there.
