Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Tried a chain for 39 down, used 987654 straight down. The 9 only fits in one cell, the top one. Then I am left with a trial for 21 across which is 12.either 1236 or 1245.tried 1236,doesn't work then 1245 is ok then all fits perfect.Cannot do it logically.

started out with the idea of no 1 in the top row after setup. Con cluded there had to be a 1 in the top row after 12:6!

Tough puzzle. Used orphans and then started on chains. Head dead ends and had to start another. Got lucky. 25 minutes.

Didn't really like this one because it required the use of a chain --- after using orphans. But that said, there was a methodical way to proceed: E has to be '6' -- or not. If not, there there will be no '3's in the first row (and then everything falls out).

Agree with Karl. Not worth doing when no logical solution exists.
