Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Only 9 cells even with orphans or am I just being dumb today.
Well, dumber than usual.

Just put one possibility and go on with trail and error.

Used orphans and possibilities and still found it a bit challenging.

Not that bad - wonp and a mental chain to show G can't be.......................................................... ............................................................ .......................................6

Possibilities but no orphans. Thought it was fairly easy and straightforward, so don't know what I was missing. I thought H=8 was a logical deduction but maybe it was just a lucky guess.

Nada, 05:10. I must have had something good for breakfast.

not seeing how you guys can eliminate 6 from G, or show H=8 (i.e. x!=8) without using really long (albeit mental) chains.

it's not that difficult without orphans
39D has a 58 pair (simple check of interactions with 21D). Easy from there ....

btw, before finding the 85 pair, establish that B!=4

and that C!=6 (work on combos for 22A)

and I assume you found that 10A != 45 pair + 1 (unique rule with 15A)

Chose the 8 for 39D and got lucky. Not satisfying.
