Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
well, I think this one needs orphans because without them it looks like two solutions are possible - or am I being dumb?

Firstly, let me say that I don't see why orphans is such a bad strategy. However, if orphans were the only way to complete a puzzle, it might possibly put the unique solution notion into some doubt. So, I like to at least try to solve without orphans just to see if it is possible...

thanks kakuroaddict, agree with you on orphans, I try to find a logic solution without and only use orphans if logic can't be found. Does anybody actually add up the horizontal and verticals to get the orphan total, or, do as I do and cheat by looking up the orphan sum in the solution? I tell myself it's ok to cheat this way if you're looking for a logic solution ;-)

I always add the horizontals and verticals to get the orphans. Don't even know how to look up the solution.

4:46 - Looks like it could've been done without orphans, but I used them anyway.

Chris, Orphans in my mind don't Govern a two solution puzzle. Any Comments?
No Orphans Required for this One.
Theres no problem using Orphans in my Mind, However some puzzlers chose to try to do without.
I would tire very easily if I relied on Orphans.

I felt it needed orphans, but used short chain at the end as easier than adding up orphans, 2018
