Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

I really struggled with this one. I finally used some extended logic to get an elimination, then it was straightforward after that.

Does anyone have clues that don't included extended logic or guessing?

Filled in easy possibilities then tried n = 2 or 4. Steps from assuming either are easy but one choice leads to a contradiction, though only after completing almost the whole puzzle.

Obviously missed something if it can be done in under 3 minutes.

Unless I made a mistake, I did not use 'extended logic' I kept showing some possibilities 'weren't' and by looking primarily at column 23b
************** solution alert *********
- I had B = (456), F & J = (1,2), P = (7,8) -last elimination was P = 5 or 6 since to sum to 23 with a 1,2,3 - there must be 7 or 8 - could only be in P. I also had T = 3 and X = 4,5,6. Now easy to finish.

Please ignore last comment. I did make a 'fortuitous' mistake (actually 2). I left off T = 4 possibility (not the issue), but also left of B = 7,8 (which is not hard to show is impossible, but it takes extended logic). So my solution done correctly is not an improvement.

I only used a bit of 'extended logic' - I think. Same as Slarti. :-)

*************solution alert below ************

UrBuddie - in the column adding to 35, U can only be 5 or 6, which results in C, Q and Y being 789 (between them), as any lesser values More...
