Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

quite a struggle to solve this one, unless I missed something obvious. used orphans and a bit of trial and error. fun puzzle

I agree with Chris, except for the 'fun puzzle' part. I don't like running so many extended chain eliminations.

I agree urbuddie! Just added the 'fun puzzle' part in an attempt to be not too negative. It's no fun running trial and errors.

Chris & UrBuddie - I had to use possibilities, but after the obvious AJZ - I made a simple observation (on C) that led immediately to D & E as well. Afeter that, it took a number of eliminations, but no extended logic or trial and error to solve.

I don't like it either. Glad to see I was not the only one that had to resort to long elimination strings aka guesswork.

Steve's comments prompted me to have another go ...
A=Z=9 orphans
J=3
O=3
M=5
and it all falls into place

8:14 - I agree, puzzles with such long chains are chores rather than fun.
