Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
orphans dont help. Not hugely easy, but doable

Like Chris says, orphans don't help.So I tried one chain starting with one orphan, did not work so tried with the other orphan and went a little further then saved the game and started another chain which went all the way.So, Not real logical.

Without orphans - After solving 12 cells .... the quad 4's in 18A and 17A take out the 4 in F .... some easy eliminations then take the cell count to 15 .... now there's quad 2's in 18A and 17A which take out the other 2's in 10D and 21D ..... and it all falls into place

Easy, no orphans. The key is the 3's in colums with sum 21

I guess I am missing something. This was almost trivially easy...

Yep, pretty easy, no orphans.

This is a pretty easy one, a common setup. Once you have solved the obvious ones (30-down, 5's and 6's in the 21-downs), look at possibilities for 4's in the entire puzzle - acrosses vs. downs. That will solve a few more, then do the same for 3's.

no need to overcomplicate it with 4s - Yoman is right about the 3s.

Like Chris, I solved 12 cells easily, but then it was just a matter of spotting the quad 3s in the two 21d's - after making the consequent eliminations, it was all plain sailing.
