Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Easy with possibilities and orphans.

Shabbir +1. No p. Couldn't get any traction without the orphans.

-o is not easy.
first - try forcing a 1's cross into 23D and 27D (by putting 2's into the relevent 6D and 3D).
Now there's only one 2, which has to be in 23D, and it's fairly easy to see 27D gets too large and breaks.

So, no 1's cross and 27D=234567. All falls out after that. Hence +p -o, but +o is way easier of course.

(alternatively, if there is a 1's cross and a 2 shortage, then 27D=134568 and breaks)

Better explanation (since nobody comments!) - it's all in the 12's. And cells M and N.
NM can't both both 1's, then there are no ones available for 23D (check 17A possibilities).
NM can't be both 2's, else there's only one 2 and 1's cross in 23D and 27D, and 27D=134568; and then 17A can't be 17 (max possible is 5614=16).

So, NM=12; 23D gets the 1, and 27D=234567. Then easy ....
