Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.
Other variations
Still looking for more puzzles? How about a variation on sudoku? Try Wordoku. Wordoku uses letters instead of numbers and has a hidden 9-letter word! For crossword puzzles, try Free Crossword PUzzles. 2 free crosswords (Easy, Hard) daily.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Easy nada. No snow here but freezing rain. Worse than snow.

Nada walkthrough
Solve most of 35D, 3D, the 89 in 26A and 7D.
It’s the 8 in 26A that squeezes possible 5 positions in 22A and 21A. Both 7D and 35D solve. And the rest just fill out.

Aspie: How do you know there's an 8 in 26A in the first place?

I am with you Willo, even with orphans, I don't see an easy way of proving 26A is not 4679?

Easy nada. Jimmy: q has to be 8 because 18 down has to be 112348 and there is no other place for an 8. p has to be 9 because 35D requires a 9 and there is no other place. n is 7 because 13D needs on and this is the only place. QED.

Jimmy: and if you ask how one knows that 18 down must have an 8, it's because all other solutions to 18D have a 5, and there is no place a 5 could fit.

Mike: Why no 5 in V?

willo: when you solve 35D, U=5, so V cannot be 5.

Mike: Perhaps I'm being dumb (it wouldn't be the first time) but how do you know which is the 5 and which is the 6 in 35D?

Willo, you are correct, I think I must have speed-skipped over the possibility of 26A being other than xx89. Mea culpa.

Aspie: Thank you. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious. I appreciate your coming back to answer.
