Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Chris +1. It's tough.

Joe+1. Even with knowing two low 37D cells and determinining 33D cell fairly easily, it was tough. I tried several approaches, best seems to be solve 5 in 35A.

(Paul, start with the 5s in the bottom two rows.)

actually, this is a nada, albeit a difficult one.
first off establish where the 6789 cells are for 37D.
then, start by considering 25D. if the bottom cell is 5, then the next to bottom must be 4 (3 blows up the unique rule on bottom two rows) which forces the 24A cross cell to be 7. 21D has More...

Joe + 2. Chris, is it only a nada in hindsight? Not sure anyone would see it without having completed it first.

Mike + 1. Tough puzzle.

Angelo, sure I found it in hindsight ( my first run was +p reported at the top). but my experince doesn't define the puzzle status - fact is, if we delay startingwith possibilities we'll eventually find the 25D key. In fact 25D suggests itself for examination because it is the most complex multi-combo line in the puzzle, often they are the key.

good dialog. Chris, just to clarify, is 'most complex multi-combo line' a comparison of possibility count (4 for 25D, 2 for 37D)?

yes, also length (6) and 37d is trivial, 25d not so
