Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.
  1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
Six cells then a full stop.

Paul +1. Hard to find a handle on it. I started by considering whether the 32D required a 9, or not. Used the orphans, but they weren't all that helpful.

I'm glad I wasn't the only 1 that struggled - wound up using the orphan values, not their sum!

oops, I forgot about my (unverified but saved) guess of where the 5 went in 35A - very rusty!

there's a really nice solution, starts off so:
whichever of the 30A has the 6, the cell below MUST be the 5 else there is a circuitous dual solution set up round the 78 79 and 89 pairs in 28A, 16D and 17D.
Hence 56 pair in 35A and it kind of unravels with difficulty from there (no orphans)

Orphans and possibilities and time. Orphans don't help. Just slow elimination.

Stuck, but if you guess there is a 9 in 32D it fslls pretty quickly...
