Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Choose a number, and place it in the grid above.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
+o-p (-o seems to require chains)

first time, I missed some key points, so -o is simpler than I first thought (I still prefer +o-p)

once I solved it, I realised it is actually a nada for someone prepared to struggle long enough. Just a case of knowing where to look. Well, nearly a nada.

ok, here's the nada, it's all in the 89's in the two 36Ds.
Top two rows, can provide either 8 or 9 but not both.
Bottom two rows, can provide one 8 and either one 9 or two 9s (depends on 24D solution).
If the former (one 8 and one 9) the the right hand orphan has to provide the other 89. More...

3D solves.
almost all of both 36D are 56789 cells. Solve Left hand orphan=1. Left hand 36D=156789.

Now we will show that the right hand orphan is overloaded, it can't do everything ...

89 situation in top two rows means only one 8 or one 9 available More...

+p+o, but Chris is correct. The nada solution presents itself after you work out the orphans.

I tried the chain 56789 in the right orphan, and it went all the way
obviously, the (right) orphan(s) is even faster
