Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

13:00 - Again, no guesses. But still got to learn to work faster if 3 people can do this in 5 mins or less. (Unless they do not count set up time).

JoshB, I am 99.9999% sure that the fantastic times you see here do not include set up and prep. time. Furthermore, I read, few months back, someone say 'I time myself when I do the puzzle a second time!'

I wouldn't sweat the times unless 1) you're trying to finish the puzzle before having to leave or 2) you plan to enter kakuro contests. *shrug*

10:03. I'm with you Josh, I start the timer before I even glance at the puzzle. Sometimes it all falls into place quickly but quite often I'll need more than 10 minutes ...

I printed it and it took me a long time after dinner and before going to bed, that's why I like to play kakuro.

8:04 first time through no orphans, no guessing.
I appreciate the comments about how some people get the fast times to post. I start the timer before I even look at the puzzle. And I post the time it takes to solve the first time through.
BTW, I am going back through the archives. I didn't start doing the kakuro until the end of 2011. It's 2012 now.
