Kakuro Kakuro
How to play Kakuro
Kakuro is similar to both sudoku and traditional crossword games.
Like a Crossword
Similar to crosswords, Kakuro has clues both across and down. When you put numbers in the vacant squares, the sum must equal the given clues. This is why the game is sometimes called 'cross sums'.
Like a Sudoku
Just like a sudoku, you cannot have the same number in a row or column. If a row is broken into 2 areas by a clue, then you can have the same number occuring once in each of the separate areas.

Talk about anything and everything, but nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!
challenging but doable (+p+chains)

using chains,not logical

No chains required. Starts with the possibilities at '14'D. The same could leads you to the solution.

I give up on this one, not even seeing any decent chains that eliminate possibilities.

John - I know what you mean, but consider that almost any logical decision is based on Cell A cannot be x because that would mean another cell or cells would be illegal. I see all decisions as being a chain whether long or short because no cell can be decided in isolation. Just my opinion.

Jimmy + 1. Don't feel like spending forever running trials. Getting very limited traction with any choices. Pass.

Got it at last .... as long as I didn't miss something .... Count the 6789s

in the 38D and 39D we need 8 of 6789.
6 of them are in rows 2,3 and 4.
which leaves two of them in row 1,5 and 6.
At least one of 6789 has to be row 1.
At least one of 6789 has to be in row More...

Chris: I got as far as 20A=3458 or 2459 by a very different chain of reasoning, which I think is approximately as hard as yours. But I still wasn't able to push through to the end. Will think on this more.....

Willo, my (more detailed) reasoning after finding the two combos for 20A ...
whatever way we cut 30A and 20A now we get a 5s X.
And we also use either a unique 3 or a unique 4, latter giving a 6s X

switch attention to 16A, we can reduce its combos to:
1249 1348 2347 (note no 6s), so, now no choice, we MUST use the 30A, 20A 6s X

30A=x56xx
20A=x45x
C=3, D=4 etc
